Sm K9 resin mask revamp by Monoyasha Sm K9 resin mask revamp by Monoyasha
This will be the new sm k9 mask. I made some small edits to the original design but kept the muzzle shape and nose. raised the eye area, enlarged the cheeks and brow, enlarged the tear ducts and made the entire head a big larger.

Another thing I will be changing on all my new masks is adding more of a forehead and chin cup making it easier for customers to wear and modify the masks. I learned through my own trials that the masks require more of a base around the wearers head to prevent slipping and allow better jaw movement.

i noticed you used a styrofoam head base. is it better for me to order a monster maker head or use my styrofoam head? the styrofoam one i have is smaller than my head o i wasnt sure

to use as a rest spot styrofoam is fine but to actually work and sculpt the monster makers head is ideal

Will you be re-doing the large feline mask, too?

the large feline already has all the upgrades as it is a new sculpt just like the large K9.

Thanks! I know you have a lot going on, but do you have any idea when will they be avaliable? Also, on your website you show one type of hinge on the feline, a different one on the K9. Will the K9 hinge work on the feline?

you can use either style. its really up to the person making the mask which they like better. They wont be available until late august to September. we will update our journals when they will be open.

Ok, now I'm messed up, as I don't know which style of hinge I would like better... Any suggestions on how they would work differently from each other, or what the difference is with jaw movement?

jaw movement is the same. only difference is 4 piece extends past the mask toward the ear and the other goes straight down.

there are no eyes here, just the tear duct and flat eye area. my old masks made the head look like the eyes were too far apart O.o

Are you sure you're looking at the eyes and not the tear ducts? The open spaces on this sculpt are tear ducts, you can see the spaces where the mask's eyes will be, but it blends in well with the rest of the clay, making the tear ducts much more visible than the actual eyes in this picture.

Hmm, they look fine to me but, to each their own. :) To me it just looks like the eye ridges and cheekbones have been built up a bit to be more obvious once covered in fur, which tends to hide a lot of sculpted detail.
