Resin eyes by Monoyasha Resin eyes by Monoyasha
So many eyes!! O.O
i just had to take a picture of them all together.
these are all resin eyes I cast myself with crystal clear resin. my available base colors are Red,Yellow,Blue, purple, orange, green also clear.
now some of these eyes are just painted while others have the LED's.
*Top left red eyes all have Red Lights and these are the 3 sizes available. Most use Med.
*Along right side top to bottom shows all the base colors.
*Middle 4 yellows shows the different paint styles. started using an iridescent paint that adds a nice reflective shine on 2 of the eyes. The eye with the eyelid has an Led and the eye diagonally to the right with the thicker black rim.
*Last is the fox eye to the bottom left. just painted this morning with a faulty eye mold to test out painting dark eyes.

I purchased the Resin kit from a local arts store and some plastic paint pallets to cast the resin for molding. also special resin dyes to color.
I do sell eye blanks/resin colored/normal painted/LED mold eyes and complete Led eye kits.

If interested or have any question just send me a Note and I'll do my best to help you out. o^-^o

I was wondering how do you put the LED in? Do you put it in the resin or in the back of the eye?

I'm working on a suit where the character has more egg shape eyes and are much larger. Being a demon character I would love to add light to her eyes and claws I was wondering if you could tell me how you add LED to your eyes. But I do understand if you want to keep that a secret for marketing purposes. Thank you so much for all the help you have already given me.

did you mix the resin properly? when mixing you need to keep going until the resin is clear again, Then transfer it to a new cup and new mixing stick to make sure its fully mixed, then pour into the mold. you must let the resin sit for at least 24hr to cure.

no, i just saw them yesterday, you're fine... i really wanted to make them myself, but god, i can't justify spending $35 each on the acrylic ones... how much would you want for a pair of 3" blanks?

what kind of paint or coloring do you use? I cast my own resin eyes but the paint I was using is starting to peel away and shrink and looks very messy!

U just use acrylics nothing fancy BUT i also cast another coating of resin over the paint once im done to seal it. Only been making resin eyes since June so no experience of over time effects?

oooo I do use acrylics because I paint and have tons of colors and nice paints already but I do not seal it... o.O it looks ok but I can see the paint slowly cracking, I didnt think of using the resin to seal it, do you just use a paintbrush to brush it on?

usually i make a tad smaller casting and paint the back then stick is back into a mold to finish the final layer and use a toothpic to gentle spread the resin over the painted areas so it becomes completely sealed and u wont have to worry about the backing popping off

huh.. that is quite interesting o_o ... I have two different sized molds but I will def try the resin on the back, it's just that the stuff is so smelly x_x it makes me all lightheaded ^^; hate working with it.... and it takes so long to cure... *curses at resin*

You can make molds with the eyes ? Also ill have to buy an LED kit to x3 to see it it works with the 3D Glass eye method

? bit confused about your question? i used the paint cups to be my mold and simply pour the resin into them. makes a perfect half sphere.

You mean like the paint trays ? Those seem to be one size but im sure i can find a multi size one. But if you stuck two of the eyes blanks together could you paint the back of one and then put the led light in the colored part of it and it could be a 3D styled taxidermy LED eye ? Or will not look incredibly bizzare ?

Yep! they are only 2 sizes i have seen. the 1" and a shallow 3". I have seen people stick them together and you could have and Led point from the outer edge into the middle but the only way to cast it is with the one half like i did. anything else would need to be made separate to surround the eye.

I'm not sure how to cast it from the outside though. Or cast it at all XD but you said you sell kits right ?
